The Skillful Huntsman by Design Studios Press
The Skillful Huntsman – I chose The Skillful Huntsman book for both the wonderful artwork (Le, Yamada, Voon and over-site by Robertson) and also for the wealth of practical conceptual exercises produced and presented in this book. It was very interesting to see the variety of silhouette studies and techniques (the lost line technique appears to be another take on the Gestalt principle of closure) as well as the color work and the multiple “passes” that were produced for the same design. It’s a great book to view if concept art is your passion and it’s a great example of how concept art is different than say illustration. This is a wonderful little book!!
